Cyclone Larry appeal

The media, including the ABC, News Ltd and the BBC, have reported Cyclone Larry in detail. At present it is expected that the cyclone will continue to move west across the Gulf Country and possibly reach Croydon, Normanton and Karumba, all of which which I visited last year when there wasn't a cloud to be seen.

Fortunately no one has yet been killed or seriously injured.

Despite this many North Queenslanders will have had their lives and perhaps livelihoods disrupted. When I was in India last year I saw the aftermath of the tsunami at first hand, and how some survivors' lives were directed back on track with, by our standards, very small amounts of pump priming relief money. The cyclone appeal deserves to be well supported.
